BOMBAY PLUS – 23RD MAY 1998
CALLIGRAPHY FOR
THE LAYMAN BY SHAMSHAD ALI BAIG.
Achyut Palav is a calligrapher par excellence,
who conducts workshops in calligraphy to make
people appreciate the beauty beyond letterings.
The awareness about calligraphy has increased
in the recent years & has been looked
upon as an art form.
Palav Says, We have more types & scripts
but we fail to recognize their potential.
And this is the reason why I’m holding
the workshops to give insight to the people
about the letterings. |

JETWINGS-
APRIL 2000 MASTER
STROKES - BY BRINDA GILL
Through his work, Palav conveys the ways that
there exists a rich tradition of scripts in
India which, when worked on different materials
produce a spectrum of results, though it’s
a long & exacting discipline for calligraphers. |

EDUCATION
TIMES 8TH MARCH 2004 THE
‘WRITE’ STUFF BY SHRADDHA KAMDAR.
Achyut Palav’s obsession with the written
word gives calligraphy a new definition.
Palav whose main aim is to spread awareness
about his art, anything done in an ‘out
of regular’ yet an interesting manner
is always noticed. So to take his knowledge
to people, he has organized fashion shows
with book jackets & covers. Besides this
a host of exhibitions & workshops have
been held in India & abroad. People find
it funny when I go abroad to teach calligraphy
in Indian languages, and then realize the
sea of knowledge our country possesses!
Otherwise the west rules our minds. |
